The Present:
____________________________________________________
I'm honestly not entirely sure what to put here anymore.
I update this page every six months or so after various parts of
my life have changed in significant ways. The last few years has
been a mix of moving around, seeing parts of the US and Europe,
and studying in various areas.
I spent the last two years in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan, finishing
up my degree in Photojournalism.
I don't see myself being a photographer the rest of my life though.
I'm much too interested in Web Design and online media. I plan to
take my degree and try to apply it those interests and be part of
the new direction that the web is moving.
I'm currently
back home in the Bay Area and looking for work. My time is filled
with hours working at my old jobs running sound and light boards;
and attempting to do various freelance work here and there.
Recently modding my '03 S2K has been a main interest as well. It
reminds me of when I rebuilt and restored my old '69 Beetle. If I'm
not working, exercising, or here at home on my computer - then I'm
out with some of the various other members of S2Ki.com.
I've loved my life up to this point, and I have plenty of goals
and plans for the future. This site, in
it's entirety will give you a better insight to my life than
I can decribe in just a page or two.
as for what's
gone on over the slightly more recent years... I served time at De Anza Community College for a couple years.
Don't go to Community College; if you can help it. It was
not the place for me. But I didn't really know what I wanted
to back during my Junior year of High School when you're "supposed to know what you want to do with the rest of your life".
I finished
my AA at Community College in the fall of '04, like I said. I'm
now Central Michigan University to finish up a degree in Photojournalism.
I've worked
for Walt Disney World Resort, The American Red Cross, Paramount
Parks Inc., The Disney Store, David Copperfield Productions,
and various theatre companies. I guess you can say I have a small
background in theatre and performing arts. People laugh when
I tell them I've danced on stilts, been paid to stunt skate on
stage, and know how to juggle balls/clubs/rings/knives and can
ride a six-foot unicycle. I've also trained lifeguards for local
pools and major theme parks. I've taken the Disney Business Management
Courses and have studied Dramatic Literature and Shakespeare
in London, England. I've traveled around Europe on the trains,
buses, and subways. I've skydived, surfed, backpacked the US'
tallest peak, mountain climbed, rock climbed. I built and used
a snow cave, survived in the forest with just a pocket knife,
I learned and tried the edible plants and bugs of the forest.
I am an Eagle Scout. I've been a jock, a nerd, a prep; I've won
medals in sports, I've aced classes and failed classes, I made
friendships and lost friendships. I've been hurt, and I've hurt
people.
I
am John
Meet me.
Shake my hand.
Say hello.
The Past:
____________________________________________________
I went to Cupertino High School, in....well...Cupertino. Class of '01, probably
most hated class by the faculty to ever come out of that school. Not to sure
why, not like we ever did anything...then again, on second thought maybe that's
why... I was pretty much your average nice guy type. I'd like to think I knew
most of the people there, and dare I say may actually be considered many people's
friend.
"You know John, when people look back on
High School, some people will say, oh Suzanne? she was a bitch,
not all, but some may. But, I don't think there is one person
who didn't like you; or could say anything like that about
you" -Suzanne A.
Most of my
freshman year was spent on a sport's field or in a pool rather
then behind a book. And yes, I paid for that later on. I wasn't
a typical freshman though. I was never some little punk on a
skateboard who thought I was the greatest person who graced that
school. Actually I was more the shy type, but extremely out going,
ironic isn't it?
Then came sophomore
and junior year...the couple years of high school you're supposed
to "take really seriously". When you take all your "hard" classes.
Let me tell you, if I studied in high school, as much as I do
now in College, I would have been a straight A student also.
But hey, can't change the past, and I can't say I have any regrets
really. Best memory from those years...Jumping in the pool with
half your class and the teacher during Finals, then walking down
the hall trying to explain to everyone why you're soaked.
And, Lastly
Senior Year: started the day at 7:30 and left school by 11. Most
of Senior Year I was the guy walking around campus with a Camera
in one hand, and a Camcorder in the other. I ended up putting
together a Senior Video for the class, only to have it rejected
by the administration. But, who cares, my friends loved it and
i still get compliments on it. Hmm...best memories from that
year....everything. From Jeff setting his baseball jersey on
fire in front of his coach, to piling 4 huge guys into a VW Bug
and put-putting our way to the senior
picnic. To grad night...
